A World Traveler’s Tunes

If you ever spot me on a train, plane, in a taxi, or walking around, you might catch me with two white earbuds in my ears.  Over the years I have accumulated a rather eclectic music taste, and my Spotify library continues to build every day with something new.  I have grown to be rather proud of my music library, though the amount of time I have spent to create said library is a bit concerning…  Spanning from country (only acceptable during the summer, sorry friends) to the most extensive collection of EDM songs you can imagine, I listen to everything that touches the sun.  Here’s a compilation of my suggested traveling tunes (based off of mood, of course!) These are also in no particular order, it is next to impossible for me to pick favorites!!

If you’re feeling as though you could touch the sky, while looking out the window at the passing landscapes on a train, I suggest:

  1. Gorgeous- X Ambassadors
  2. Hymn for the Weekend (Seeb Remix)- Coldplay
  3. Spotlight- Leagues
  4. Help Our Souls (Urban Contact Radio Edit)- NIHILS
  5. Australia- The Shins
  6. i- Kendrick Lamar— *not sure why but this song never fails to put me in a fantastic mood*
  7. Fire and the Flood- Vance Joy
  8. Stuck in the Middle with You- Stealers Wheel
  9. High (CRNKN Remix)- Peking Duk, Nicole Millar
  10. Ocean Drive- Duke Dumont

If you’re feeling like you belong in a club with raging EDM beats, endless tequila shots with lemon, and strobe lights shining brightly into your soul, I suggest:

  1. Tremor- Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike
  2. Bitch Better Have my Money (Flosstradamus Remix)- Rihanna
  3. Alarm (Marshmallo Remix)- Anne Marie
  4. Roll the Bass- Major Lazer
  5. Gecko (Overdrive)- Oliver Heldens, Beck Hill—*this song never fails*
  6. Higher Ground- TNGHT (Hudson Mohawke x Lunice)
  7. Intoxicated- Martin Solveig, GTA
  8. Boy Oh Boy- Diplo, GTA
  9. DJ Turn it Up- Yellow Claw
  10. Party Up (GTA Remix)- Destructo, YG

If you’re mid-broken heart, like all of us out there, and want to wallow in self-pity with some slow, contemplative tunes, I suggest:

  1. Holocene- Bon Iver
  2. Ophelia- The Lumineers
  3. Old Pine- Ben Howard
  4. Transatlanticism- Death Cab for Cutie
  5. Goodbye My Lover- James Blunt— *confused as to why people think he was a one-hit wonder*
  6. Was There Nothing?- Ásgeir
  7. Outro- M83
  8. Raging- Kygo, Kodaline— *just a sad song to me, others may not agree*
  9. Sheets- Damien Jurado
  10. Turning Tables- Adele
  11. *bonus* Fix You or The Scientist- Coldplay

And lastly, if you’re driving on a sunny Sunday afternoon in the spring with the sun shining into your car and your arm dangling out the window, brushing past the cool, fresh air, I suggest:

  1. Chariot- Gavin Degraw
  2. Come on Get Higher- Matt Nathanson
  3. Ships in the Night- Mat Kearney
  4. The Lime Tree- Trevor Hall
  5. Upside Down- Jack Johnson— *I know I said I can’t pick favorites, but for this playlist it’s always JJ*
  6. Riptide- Vance Joy
  7. Junk of the Heart- The Kooks
  8. Take a Walk- Passion Pit
  9. Yellow- Coldplay
  10. Sunshine- Matisyahu

***Oh and my most important suggestion for all of these: If you’re feeling anything, literally any emotion at all, just listen to Chance the Rapper.  He applies to everything.***
